To enter the Lipovica-Popovača Penitentiary, parties and visitors must have valid identification documents (ID card or passport), and mobile phones are prohibited.
Visits to detainees are organised in accordance with the Ordinance on house rules in prisons accomodating preventive detainees, and visits to convicts are organised in accordance with the Execution of Prison Sentence Act, and inmate visitation according to the Penitentiary House Rules and the Daily Activities Schedule.
Permission for visits to convicts is granted by the director of the Penitentiary upon a convict’s request.
Inmates may be visited by family members and other persons, with the approval of the director of the Penitentiary, in accordance with the Execution of Prison Sentence Act.
Detainees (in both criminal and misdemeanour cases) may only be visited by persons authorised by an investigating judge or chairman of a panel of judges. Permission to visit preventive detainees and must be requested by visitors and is granted by the competent court at its own discretion.

Convicts (crimes and misdemeanours):
- are entitled to receive a parcel with permitted items, weighing up to 7 kilograms, once a month and for holidays;
- the sender must attach to the parcel a list of its contents by type and quantity, along with the inmate’s full name;
- the parcel is opened and inspected in the presence of the inmate for whom it is intended;
- prohibited, expired or dangerous content of parcels is confiscated and a confirmation thereof delivered to a prisoner, in accordance with the Act.
Detainees (crimes and misdemeanours):

in accordance with Article 23 of the Ordinance on house rules in prisons accomodating preventive detainees, detainees may receive a parcel containing permitted items, weighing up to 5 kg, once a week.
Reception of permitted items
-
parcels with permitted items can be handed over directly at the Lipovica-Popovača Penitentiary or sent by post. Items and parcels for inmates can be sent by post to the address of the Penitentiary
Permitted items include:
- underwear and clothing,
- bed linen (sheets, pillowcases, blankets and towels, up to 2 sets of linen),
- shoes (1 pair of shoes),
- up to 3 paperback books and 3 family photos.
MONEY
- a person deprived of liberty may receive money from family members and from a third party (or send it to them) through the penitentiary by postal and bank payments;
- persons deprived of liberty cannot receive money directly from visitors or in letters, but can receive and send money through penitentiary services;
- the inmate can use the money deposited for them in accordance with the implementing regulation adopted pursuant to the relevant Act;
- persons who wish to transfer money to inmates of the Lipovica-Popovača Penitentiary can do so by bank transfer to IBAN HR2523900011300001278; model and reference number: HR00 239521; for international payments, enter SWIFT: HPB ZHR2X; payment description: be sure to enter the full name and father’s name of the inmate for whom the money is intended.
TELEPHONE
- persons deprived of liberty cannot receive phone calls;
- persons deprived of liberty can make phone calls from the Penitentiary to approved telephone numbers.
In accordance with Article 5 of the Act on the Execution of Prison Sentence Act, data on inmates processed during the execution of their custodial sentence constitute an official and professional secret, and their collection, processing, use and storage is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Act and special regulations.
