Study visit of probation service and its stakeholders on Re-entry, 27-30 January 2025

In September and November 2024, Prof. Ioan Durnescu from Bucharest held the Core Corectional Skills training in Croatia under the project "Strengthening the capacity and visibility of the prison and probation systems", financed by the Bilateral Fund of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism

In addition to working meetings with colleagues from the probation service and the prison system, the study visit included a visit to civil society organizations that cooperate with the probation service in the implementation of sanctions and measures in the community through education and employment of convicts, support in the process of addiction treatment, reintegration and execution of community service.  The main topic of the study visit was the visit to a Halfway House, which is part of the gradual reintegration process during imprisonment in Norway, where the resources of local communities are included the rehabilitation process, preparing prisoners for independent living through various activities. 

The participants of the study visit are extremely satisfied with the cooperation with Norwegian partners, as well as the way cooperation with stakeholders in the local community is organised in the implementation of sanctions and measures in the community. The study visit provided them with new knowledge and insights on how to improve the existing probation practices.
