Paperless commercial courts in Croatia
Technical Support Instrument (TSI)
Beneficiary: Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation
Project objective: The project supports the workflow digitalisation of Croatia’s commercial courts to increase their overall efficiency and will help optimise resources, reduce the length of proceedings and backlogs, in line with the Council of Europe standards, the European Convention on Human Rights and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. The project supports Croatian commercial courts in increasing the use of fully digital workflows for judges and court staff.
Brief project description: The project envisages piloting four commercial courts - in Dubrovnik, Split, Varaždin and Zagreb. Upon completion of the project in pilot courts, the methodology would be implemented in all other commercial courts. In addition, this project would give wind to the introduction of fully digital case flows in other courts as well. The support of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia and all other courts is important for further digital transformation of the judiciary and support to this project.
The expected long-term impact of this project is an improved efficiency of the Croatian judiciary. In addition, the project is expected to increase the use of fully digital workflows for judges and court staff in commercial courts.
The project is co-financed by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support and the Council of Europe.
Start of the project: August 2024 (project duration: 18 months)
