Requirements for the registration of life partnership

A life partnership may be registered by persons over the age of 18 who have full legal capacity.

The registration of life partnership is valid: 

• when persons are of the same sex,
• when they have declared their consent for the registration of life partnership,
• when life partnership is concluded before a registrar.

A life partnership is registered in the presence of the persons intending to register the life partnership, the registrar and two witnesses. 

Any person of age and full legal capacity may act as a witness in the life partnership ceremony. 

A life partnership cannot be registered by:

• a person under the age of 18, 
• a person incapable of sound judgement,
• persons who are blood relatives in a direct line or in a collateral line up to the fourth degree,
• a person who is already in a life partnership or married.
