Authority to name a child
A child can be named by:
The deadline for registering the name of a child is 30 days from the date of birth.
- its parents by mutual agreement,
- a social welfare centre if parents fail to agree on a name,
- one parent if the other is not alive, has been declared dead, their domicile is unknown, they have been deprived of parental rights, deprived of legal capacity, or a decision on partial deprivation of legal capacity has been issued which prevents them from action in civil status matters,
- the child’s guardian (with prior consent of the social welfare centre) if parents are not alive, have been declared dead, their domicile is unknown, they have been deprived of parental rights, deprived of legal capacity, or a decision on partial deprivation of legal capacity has been issued which prevents them from action in civil status matters,
- a social welfare centre if parents are unknown,
- adoptive parents.
The deadline for registering the name of a child is 30 days from the date of birth.
