Life partnership registration by foreign citizens

Foreign citizens may register a life partnership in the Republic of Croatia under the same conditions as Croatian citizens. 

In order to register a life partnership, foreign citizens need to submit:

• a copy of the birth record issued in their country of birth,
• a certificate confirming that they are not in a life partnership or married, issued in the state of their citizenship.

The following documents must be presented to the registrar:

• identity documents,
• proof of citizenship,
• other documents may be requested by the registrar by way of exception, depending on individual cases.
