Service for Victim and Witness Support of the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration

The Service for Victim and Witness Support provides several types of direct support to victims. They include notification about the release of the offender from prison and determining the attitude of the victim towards the committed criminal offence, which is taken into account when deciding on whether to allow short-term release of the offender from prison during sentence execution. Moreover, the Service provides support to victims and witnesses summoned through international legal assistance (informative letters). Additionally, it handles claims for financial compensation to victims of violent crimes committed with intent.
