Official visit of Slovenian delegation to Croatian prison system during Advent

A three-day official visit of the Slovenian delegation, i.e. members of the Prison Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (URSIKS) and project team of the Ljubljana Public Education Centre - Cene Štupar (CILJ) to the Croatian prison system was organised in Zagreb from 5 to 7 December 2023.

On the first day of the visit, a working meeting was held in the premises of the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration, Prison System and Probation Directorate, where the Director General responsible for the prison system of the Republic of Croatia met with the senior members of the Slovenian Prison Administration (URSIKS), the Director of Cene Štupar (CILJ) and both project teams, and presented the current situation in the Prison System and Probation Directorate. The project managers of the Slovenian and Croatian project teams presented the short-term and long-term objectives of the approved Erasmus+ project entitled “Strengthening personal accountability in the prison system for sustainable development - FirstINthenOUT” as well as future plans for applying another larger joint project in 2024.  

In the further course of the official visit, several coordination meetings of both project teams were held, and a tour of the Zagreb Prison, the Diagnostic Centre and the Training Centre was organised, and the functioning and organisational structure of the three correctional institutions was presented. 

A return official visit of the project team from the Croatian Training Centre to Ljubljana is envisaged for January 2024, which will include the official award of the 2nd level education certificates to all 8 multipliers in the project. The 1st level of certification was successfully completed for all multipliers in September and October 2023. 

The Erasmus+ project KA210 officially started on 1 September 2023 and will be implemented in the prison systems of the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Croatia until 28 February 2025.
