Final conference of the ERASMUS+ project "First IN - Then OUT"
The final conference of the ERASMUS+ project "Strengthening personal responsibility in the prison system for the sake of sustainable development" (working title - "FirsT IN - Then OUT") was held in Ljubljana on 11 February 2025
The conference brought together representatives of project stakeholders: Ljubljana Public Education Centre - Cene Štupar (CILJ) (Project Coordinator), Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation - Directorate for Prison System and Probation, Training Centre (Project Partner), Prison Administration of the Republic of Slovenia - URSIKS (Associated Partner), participants in the pilot project from Croatia and Slovenia, and other stakeholders who contributed to the implementation of the project.
The purpose of the project was to foster cooperation and exchange of best practices between prison staff and to expand the offer of training programmes for prison staff related to the green transition, and to raise awareness among policy makers and the general public of the importance of sustainable training and practices in the prison system, and advocate for greater support and funding of a contemporary model of sustainable development in the prison systems of the two partner countries in this project.
Within the project, 7 multipliers (3 on Croatian and 4 on Slovenian side) were trained to transfer knowledge in the field of sustainable development. Both project teams jointly implemented the pilot program of the project on sustainable development in Croatia and Slovenia. A project programme was created on a systematic level as well as a digital booklet with sustainability topics that will be available to all penal authorities in Slovenia and Croatia.
Certified multipliers for social responsibility and sustainable development are officers of the Directorate for Prison System and Probation.
The project, co-financed by the European Union, lasted 18 months and was implemented in Croatia and Slovenia from 1 September 2023 to 28 February 2025.
