State Secretary Ivan Crnčec participates in panel on femicide prevention
As part of the OSCE Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, a panel discussion dedicated to femicide prevention was held on 14 October 2025
In addition to OSCE experts, representatives of Belgium and Malta, countries that have also recently introduced femicide into their legislation, and former UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls Dubravka Šimonović, State Secretary Crnčec participated in the panel discussion and presented Croatian legislative amendments that strengthened the fight against domestic violence. The April 2024 package of legislative amendments (including the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Act and the Protection against Domestic Violence Act) introduced a new crime of aggravated murder of a female person, defined gender-based violence against women, strengthened the rights of victims of domestic violence and tightened the criminal and misdemeanor penalties policy.
State Secretary Crnčec presented those legal amendments as well as the experiences in their implementation so far.
