State Secretary Crnčec signs Prague Declaration on Artificial Intelligence: Nine CEE countries strongly connect technological capacities
State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation Ivan Crnčec participated in the CEE AI Summit 2026 in Prague, where he signed the Prague Declaration on AI on behalf of the Republic of Croatia on 3 September
By signing this document, nine Member States (Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovenia and Romania) committed to the significant strengthening of their cooperation, the joint coordination of European AI policy, the interconnection of key computing infrastructure and the systematic sharing of practice.
The aim of this historic initiative is to strengthen the competitiveness and strategic position of the region within the European Union and for the participating states to actively shape European rules on artificial intelligence.
The central element of the agreed cooperation is the connection of national technological capacities. These include specialized advanced systems, the so-called AI Factories, as well as planned AI Gigafactories, which will provide the computing power necessary for the development and application of the most powerful AI models in Europe.
The summit in Prague's Martinický Palace brought together more than 250 high-level representatives from the fields of politics, business and science. The event was also supported by Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation.
By signing this declaration, the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation continues to actively position Croatia as a partner committed to the development of safe, advanced and ethical technological solutions that will accelerate the modernisation of public administration and strengthen the domestic economy.
