Prison system – study visit of Ukrainian delegation

From 23 to 29 September, the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration, in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, organised a study visit for a Ukrainian delegation, dedicated to the prison system.

The aim of the study visit was to exchange experience on the functioning of the prison system in war circumstances and in the post-war period, on strengthening the security of the prison system and on prison officers’ training, especially with regard to respect for the human rights of prisoners of war.

In addition, there was a discussion about the establishment of cooperation between the probation services.

As part of the study trip, the Ukrainian delegation headed by Deputy Ministers of Justice Olena Vysotska and Oleksandr Banchuk visited the Training Centre, prisons in Zagreb, Rijeka and Varaždin as well as penitentiaries in Turopolje and Lepoglava.
