Further to numerous media articles related to the investigative prisoner from the Republic of Ireland, the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation points out that data on investigative prisoners is restricted under the Criminal Procedure Act, and may be provided upon written request to criminal justice authorities and the data subject
However, in the interest of objectively informing the public, we state that the investigative prisoner in question was admitted to the Zadar Prison in the afternoon of Monday, 6 July, based on a decision of the Zadar County Court.The investigative prisoner was admitted with the insulin he had in his possession and was allowed to use insulin therapy.
On Wednesday, 8 July, the prisoner was examined by a prison doctor, after which he was sent for examination to the Zadar General Hospital, where he was registered at 12:31h for insulin re-education i.e. retraining on proper dosing and administration of insulin to achieve optimal blood sugar levels, whereas he refused any further tests.
The aforementioned investigative prisoner was allowed visits in accordance with the decision of the investigating judge, and the Zadar Prison notified the Embassy of the Republic of Ireland in Croatia thereof.
