Minister Malenica with Albanian Minister of Justice Manja

On Monday, 9 October 2023, Minister of Justice and Public Administration Ivan Malenica received an official visit from Albanian Minister of Justice Ulsi Manja.

The ministers discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations between Croatia and Albania, strengthening of judicial co-operation, establishment of cooperation between the two countries’ probation services and the implementation of electronic monitoring of prisoners. In addition, they talked about cooperation on development projects.

“Croatia strongly supports EU enlargement and welcomes Albania’s efforts on the European path. We believe that our experience and knowledge can help Albania in the process of EU accession negotiations, specifically with regard to progress in Chapter 23 and Chapter 24”, said Minister Malenica.

On 22 February 2022, the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Albania signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the exchange of experience in the field of justice in Tirana. The MoU reaffirmed the friendly relations between the two countries and established a protocol for judicial cooperation.
