Minister Malenica meets with IRMCT President Gatti Santana

On Monday 4 September, Minister of Justice and Public Administration Ivan Malenica met with the President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts Graciela Gatti Santana as part of her two-day visit to Croatia.

They discussed the work of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), focusing on the Mechanism’s future mandate. They also exchanged views on a number of other topics of common interest, including judicial cooperation with the Mechanism and Southeast European countries on the issue of prosecution of war crimes. They also touched upon the issue of early release from prison. In this context, concerns were expressed about the consequences of the recent decision on the early release of Franko Simatović.
 
This is the first official visit of the President of the IRMCT Gatti Santana to the Republic of Croatia upon assuming the office in July last year.
