Minister Habijan at Working Group meeting for the first revision of the National Roadmap for the Digital Decade Policy Programme 2030

The document represents a commitment under the Digital Decade 2030 Policy Programme established in 2022, which defined Europe's digital transition and set concrete digital targets for EU Member States to achieve by 2030.

It is a strategic plan outlining the actions and measures with which Croatia will achieve the established EU digital targets.

“Each Member State has undertaken the task of developing a national roadmap adapted to the local context, existing and planned activities and the available financial framework, and I am particularly proud of the fact that Croatia was the first to draft and submit this plan to the European Commission", said Minister Habijan at the meeting on Monday, while thanking all members of the Working Group for their dedicated work.

He referred to digitalisation as the main driving force in both private and business environments today and highlighted the need for digital technologies to contribute to achieving broader social outcomes not limited to the digital sphere only, but with positive effects on everyday life and the well-being of citizens.

"In order for the digital transformation to be successful, it should go hand in hand with improvements in the areas of democracy, good governance, social inclusion and more efficient public services, and as a representative of the executive in Croatia, I can say that these are the main priorities of this Government … During this decade, Croatia will work closely and pool resources with other Member States to make progress in the area of digital skills and technologies, whose rapid development requires our quick response and continuous improvement", concluded Minister Habijan.
 
State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation Bernard Gršić presented an analysis of trends in digitalisation. He emphasised the responsibility and the need for a reliable and controlled management of the digital reality and holistic and coordinated policies and approach in order for public administration, in synergy with the private sector, to contribute to shaping a sustainable, inclusive digital future for all.

“In implementing the digital transition, Croatia and other EU Member States have adopted the Digital Compass policy with the aim of strengthening their digital sovereignty and setting their own standards for the new digital age”, said State Secretary Gršić.

Officials from the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT) of the European Commission, Valentina Parziale, Jola Dervishaj, Vladimir Duković and Guido Acchioni also contributed to the Working Group meeting. Mr Acchioni addressed the participants online from Brussels, saying that further steps in digitalisation would be needed in the coming decade and that public services would be made more accessible to citizens.

More than 30 members of the Working Group from state and public authorities, professional associations and the digital technologies sector as well as representatives of the academic and business communities participated in the drafting of the National Roadmap for the Digital Decade Policy Programme 2030, all under the coordination of the former Central State Office for the Development of Digital Society, whose tasks were recently taken over by the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation.
