On Thursday 29 July 2021, Minister Ivan Malenica received an inaugural visit from H.E. Mr. Csaba Demcsák, Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Croatia.The topics discussed at the meeting included the current reform processes in the field of justice and public administration. Minister Malenica highlighted the National Development Strategy 2030 and its strategic objective of efficient and effective justice and public administration, better quality of public institutions, fight against corruption and further digitalisation of public sector and judiciary, as well as the National Recovery and Resilience Programme, which will ensure financial support for accelerating the reforms. Among other developments, Minister Malenica mentioned the finalisation of Action Plans for improving the efficiency of courts, adoption of the new Anti-Corruption Strategy 2021-2030, territorial reorganisation and implementation of the project “Optimisation of the Local and Regional Self-Government System”, and further digitalisation of the judiciary and public administration under envisaged projects.
They discussed the current Hungarian presidencies of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and of the Visegrad Group (V4), which marks its 30th anniversary this year, as well as the generous support and contribution of the Hungarian Government after the devastating earthquakes in Croatia.
In conclusion, Minister Malenica and Ambassador Demcsák expressed their satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation in the field of justice and public administration so far, and their readiness to strengthen it even further, especially with regard to digitalisation and continued cooperation and exchange of experiences in this highly important field.
