On Wednesday 9 April, the first meeting of the Commission for the Implementation of the Operational Programme for the Bosniak National Minority was held at the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation

Apart from representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Office for Human Rights and Rights of National Minorities, the Council for National Minorities, the Institute for Migration Research, the association Bosniaks Together!, the National Coordination of Bosniaks in the Republic of Croatia, the Bosniak National Council, the Coordination of County Councils, the Council of the City of Zagreb and county representatives of the Bosniak national minority in the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian County Association and representatives of Karlovac, Sisak-Moslavina, Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties and the City of Zagreb.

The Commission was established by the Government of the Republic of Croatia in January this year to carry out activities aimed at eliminating administrative difficulties when it comes to voters declaring themselves as members of the Bosniak national minority for the purposes of registration in the electoral register and to continuously inform members of the Bosniak national minority about their rights arising from the Constitutional Act on the Rights of National Minorities, as well as a campaign aimed at facilitating access of the minority to the competent administrative bodies keeping the electoral register in counties and the City of Zagreb.

The above are also objectives set out in the Operational Programme for National Minorities 2024-2028, the adoption of which by the Government of the Republic of Croatia has proven its commitment to improving the level of protection of the rights of national minorities and promoting a culture of tolerance.

At the meeting, members of the Commission agreed on further activities in order to achieve the purpose for which the Commission was established.
