Certificates of appreciation presented for cooperation with probation service

On 12 March 2025, at the National University Library, certificates of appreciation were presented to legal and natural persons with whom the best cooperation was achieved over the past year in the field of probation service, its improvement, promotion and social recognition.  

State Secretary Vedrana Šimundža-Nikolić pointed out that everyone in the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation was proud of the existence of the probation service, as well as the work of officers in the Central Office for Probation and probation offices. 

"This Certificate of Appreciation is an acknowledgement and a small memento to show that the society has recognized your efforts for the public benefit", stated State Secretary Šimundža-Nikolić, who, together with the Director General for the Prison System and Probation Zvonimir Penić, presented a total of 29 certificates of appreciation to representatives of legal and natural persons from different systems - associations, health institutions, utility companies, institutes, humanitarian organizations, courts and local self-government units. 

Director Penić referred to the efforts continuously made to raise public awareness and reduce social prejudice.

"It is, of course, not easy and there are challenges, but we are here to cooperate and support each other, and these days we have also been organizing a symbolic Yellow Ribbon Run race, which aims to sensitise the public and highlight the importance of community support in the rehabilitation and resocialization of people with a criminal past. 

Head of Probation Sector Goran Brkić reminded that the acknowledgement ceremony has been organised since 2013 to thank everyone who cooperates with the probation service. 

“We have never taken this cooperation for granted and in this way we want to give our warm, human thanks to you for cooperating with the probation service, for being our extended arm and helping convicts by giving them a second chance. We have covered the entire Croatia with these certificates of appreciation today - from Ilok, central Croatia, Istria, all the way to Korčula and Dubrovnik”, he concluded. 

Director of Public Health Institute of Krapina-Zagorje County Tomislav Jadan and Director of Zadar City Library Doroteja Kamber-Kontić spoke on behalf of those acknowledged. 

Legal and natural persons who could not attend the ceremony will receive their certificates of appreciation from the heads of probation offices.
