Presidential elections to be held on 29 December

At the 41st session of the Government, the Proposal of the Decision calling the election of the President of the Republic of Croatia was adopted, as presented by the Minister of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation Damir Habijan

“As is known, the Government of the Republic of Croatia has the authority to call elections for the President of the Republic of Croatia and to determine the date of the elections, in accordance with the Act on the Election of the President of the Republic of Croatia”, Minister Habijan said at the beginning of his presentation.

“Also, in accordance with the provisions of said Act, at least 30 days must elapse between the date of the announcement and the date of the elections”, he added.

Guided by this and the time limits relating to the performance of all electoral activities and the possibility of repeat election, the Government of the Republic of Croatia has decided on Sunday 29 December 2024 as election day.

The Decision calling the election will be published in Narodne novine and will enter into force on 28 November 2024, the start date of the deadlines for all electoral activities, which are binding for all participants in the process of election of the President of the Republic of Croatia.
