Under the project “Strengthening the capacity and visibility of the prison and probation systems” funded under the Bilateral Fund of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, a training on “Core Correctional Skills” was held for the first group of probation officers from Norway and Croatia.
The training was held at the Medena Hotel in Trogir from 1st to 5th September 2024, and was delivered by Professor Ioan Durnescu from Romania, the author of the book Core Correctional Skills, which was translated and printed in Croatian for the purposes of this training.
10 probation officers from Croatia and 5 from Norway participated in the training, and evaluated it as one of the best trainings they have participated in. They emphasised the possibility of widespread delivery of the training for all professionals working in the field of correctional treatment, rehabilitation or anyone working with involuntary clients. They emphasised the importance of the training for officials working with offenders regardless of their work experience and previous knowledge.
