Under the Erasmus+ project “Strengthening personal accountability in the prison system for the sake of sustainable development (First IN - then OUT)”, a two-day official visit to Slovenian project team Cene Štupar and Ljubljana Prison was organised on 18 and 19 June 2024.
The visit of the Croatian project team was organised in the context of implementation of new project activities envisaged under the project.
Special emphasis in this project is placed on sustainability of the Training Programme in the prison systems of the two partner countries, so the Erasmus+ international project team continues to work on the preparation and development of the Programme, the digital booklet of the Programme and the list of competencies.
In cooperation with the Cene Štupar project team, the Prison Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (URSIKS) and the Ljubljana Prison administration, the programme of the official visit included a short tour of the Ljubljana Prison (both current and old location), for which we especially thank the Slovenian project team, the Director of URSIKS and the Director of the Ljubljana Prison.
Director of the Ljubljana Prison Denis Perše and his associates gave a clear and detailed presentation of the work of the Prison and the current problems and challenges encountered in the daily work of the Prison. Director Perše also briefly presented the conceptual design for the construction of the new Ljubljana Prison facilities, at a location outside the center of Ljubljana, emphasising that major construction works are already underway, and are envisaged to be completed by the end of 2025.
