European protection order (EPO)
When a precautionary measure or special obligation is imposed in order to protect the victim, and the victim leaves or lives outside the Republic of Croatia, the investigating judge of the county court will issue a European protection order at the request of the victim (guardian or representative) and submit it to the competent authority of the country in which the protected person will reside or stay.
The request can also be submitted in person to the competent authority of the EU Member State where the protected person will reside or stay.
In this way, the protection measures imposed on the offender in order to protect the victim may be valid in another EU Member State where the victim resides, regardless of the location of the offender / person against whom the measure was imposed.
The European protection order does not apply in non-EU countries.
