"Language Training in the Field of Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters" (JUST/2013/JPEN/AG/4603)
The Project aims at improving professional English knowledge and skills of the participants (judges and state attorneys) in the area of judicial cooperation in criminal matters. The project coordinator is the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice of Hungary, and other partners of the project are the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecution of Poland, the Judicial Academy of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia. The Project is co-financed by the European Union (80%).
The Project consisted of 4 seminars, one each in Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia and Poland, each in the duration of 5 days.
English is the sole official language of the Project. The English language focused on the general legal terminology related to criminal justice and the general terminology on European Union (EU) law, and especially on the legal terminology related to the field of judicial cooperation in criminal matters in the EU. Thus, the Project aims at providing for the opportunity of acquiring thorough knowledge related to EU law in the field of judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
Each Partner country was responsible for selecting 5 legal practitioners (judges and state attorneys) with an adequate level of knowledge of English (B2 or C1 level) who apply EU law on judicial cooperation in criminal matters on national level to participate in the 4 seminars. One of the outputs of the Project was an English language glossary containing the main terms, expressions and legal institutions (including EU institutions) dealt with during the seminars.
