Digital Croatia 2030 conference: Minister Habijan stresses importance of digital infrastructure and sovereignty

Minister Damir Habijan participated in the 8th edition of the conference “Digital Croatia 2030”, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia

In his keynote speech, Minister Habijan stressed that the primary goal of the Government was to establish a reliable, secure and interoperable National Information Infrastructure that would enable the development of a wide range of digital services for citizens and businesses. He pointed out that, in accordance with the Digital Croatia Strategy 2032, a number of strategic projects are being implemented, such as the modernisation of the Court Commercial Register and the expansion of the capacities of the Shared Services Centre, which directly stimulates digital transformation as a key driver of growth and competitiveness.

Apart from Minister Habijan, the conference was attended by Ms Maja Vitaljić, Director General for Digital Economy at the Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation, as well as other experts who contributed to the discussion on digital sovereignty and transatlantic cooperation.

AmCham Executive Director Andrea Doko Jelušić pointed out the necessity of a strong digital ecosystem for the growth of national competitiveness, while MEP Karlo Ressler warned in a video message about the importance of balanced regulation that should not limit innovation. The representatives of APIS IT, Oracle, Digital Realty and IBM also presented their views and technological solutions, along with the participation of domestic IT companies such as Triple Innovations, Uprise, Aduro Ideja and Velebit AI.

In his address, the Minister placed a particular focus on the Three Seas Initiative, which he stressed would serve as a crucial platform to discuss further digitalisation and the application of new technologies.
He stressed that this political and economic platform, which brings together 13 EU member states located between the Baltic Sea, Adriatic Sea and Black Sea, serves to strengthen regional cooperation and create connections in the strategic areas of transport, energy and digital infrastructure.

As Minister Habijan pointed out, it is precisely through projects such as the IRN corridor within the Three Seas region that Croatia ceases to be exclusively a user of foreign technologies and assumes the role of a leader in the advanced Deep Tech sector, thus ensuring faster economic growth and cohesion of the entire European area.
